%X Most studies of estimation of Energy Balance components on a regional scale, in addition to using images, require surface meteorological data. The most commonly used data are air temperature (Ta), global radiation (Rg) and wind speed (U2). The purpose of this paper is to analyze the possibility of the use of MODIS products and meteorological data of reanalysis (NCEP/DOE Reanalysis II). The study period covered three years, from 2009 to 2011, using data from three different sources: a) MODIS products, b) climatic data of reanalysis and c) data from a micrometeorological tower located in the municipality of Cruz Alta - RS. The analysis of the results from the import process and spatial interpolation of the reanalysis data allowed the smoothing of the spatial distribution of the climatic variables, which allows the use of the data of this product as input data in the BE models. The dispersions between the meteorological variables measured in the tower and the reanalysis data presented high association for the Ta and Rg data. Estimates of BE components presented satisfactory performance, the dispersions presented concentration of points in the vicinity of the 1: 1 line for the different BE components, with more significant deviations observed on some specific days. The use of reanalysis data has as its main advantage the regular spatial distribution and constant temporal sequence of the meteorological variables, which has contributed greatly to studies on a regional scale.
